Use a smaller bolt than the tubesize but SHLACK it with RTV silicone gasket maker (that gasket in a tube stuff). I just finished doing exactly that not a few hours ago. You can actually pull it out if necessary but the RTV keeps the bolt from going anywhere.

Oh yeah, it is a major exhaust leak and I would recommend plugging it.
