I think I have found the problem:
I recently had a rock caught in the caliper so I had to pull the caliper of to get the rock out, but when I put the caliper back on I must have dislocated my anti-rattle clip because when I checked it this morning the clip was about 3/8" towards the outside of the caliper. I haven't driven the car very far since but the noise has not seemed to have come back on my test run

the pads are new, calipers are rebuilt, the noise sounded like a rock caught but would only show up periodicaly and stopped when the brakes were applied the noise would get more constant when I accelerated.

if the noise dose come back any suggestions?
thanks
