If you are really serious about a certain car and going to spend alot of money then you need to have a certifed damage appraisor look at it. He/she will be able to tell you if it was ever hit or modified from original condition. They normally go for about the 100-400 dollar range depending on car. Also some companies will pull that report as well.
Car fax and all those others DON'T always tell you the whole story if anything due to many handy body repair techs and the do-it-your-selfer.
