There has been an unknown issue with our MySQL database server lately where the server gets hung up for some reason. After it does it just sits there forever on queries from the webservers until it times out. MySQL has to be restarted to come back to life.

Nothing has changed with its configuration... it just started doing it a couple weeks ago. I've scan disked the primary drive and its raid array, sector scanned the drives, error checked the database tables (there's a scheduled job that does that any ways), and messed with the configuration for MySQL, etc... and, I can find no problems. So, I've upgraded it to the latest version on MySQL and I'm about to upgrade all the webservers to the latest version of PHP too. If that doesn't work I'll end up reloading the entire machine from scratch as a last resort.
