I agree but I would not recommend the "lift off" style". I have a harwood lift off hood and it's a pain in the ass. I have to undo 10 zeus pins everytime I need to get under the hood.
I would go with a hinged fiberglass hood.
Also, if your brother is going to paint it for you then I'm sure he's prepped tons of fiberglass hoods by now and it won't be a big deal for him to do.
