Too much Carb...

Tone it down. I'd suggest something that surprised me... a Holley 600 with vacuum secondaries. Pick up a spring kit and a trick kit... and enjoy a day of holeshots and burnouts trying to get the best set up. I found that a more aggressive carb cam, combined with a lighter spring really worked well with a moderately enhanced 302.
