We never put an engine together withoug tapping the oiling circuit for NPT plugs. Just one of those little things, but there's nothing worse than starting a new engine to find that its got no oil pressure because it popped a plug.
BTW: I run a standard volume pump, even in my 8500rpm Street Warrior engine.
