A lot if times it depends on how long the car as sat. When I first repainted my car, I was too scared to drive the thing for fear of a chip. Then I started getting sqeaks from the car that had never been there before. Drive the car a while, if the sqeak persists....start greasing joints and the like and work your way from there. If it happens while pushing down on the bumper, might be a spring or shock, but driving my car for the first time after winter usually has a few noises for the first few miles.

Congrats, you've got pretty much the original Eleanor (though I think that one was a 71-2). Good deal too.
Replace the cover gaskets, I wouldnt even screw around trying to get the ones on there to seal.
As far as the squeaks, as noted above, I'd do all the lube points, and then see what's left. One of my first guesses would be the tie rods. Get the car up on a pair of stands, and try shaking the wheel l/r to see if theres any play.

Thanks it was not easy but i stood tough in the heat of the battle and well i always wanted a stang . I went through all the lube points and on the drive home from brother in laws the squeaking was gone so far so good. It looked like it had not been greased for awhile.

If anyone would know is this a fastback, sportsroof? vin#3502H189544
