What kinda noise did you hear. About the only thing that could cause a load that great would be the starter. If the starter solnoid got stuck in the enaged position it would cuase that kinda load on the postive cable. The altenator may have shorted and went to ground also, but the wireing to it is smaller and would probally burn into. I think if you had something short out to ground, and cause the cable to get that hot it would be pretty easy to see. Just my 2 cents Good Luck
