![]() I'd put a voltmeter on the battery and see for sure if your alternator is charging.

![]() Usually the light turns on when the alternator isn't charging, however, the fact that the volt meter shot way up could be an indication that your voltage regulator is going out. On many systems its located on the back of the alternator. I used to have an external regulator that went out on me. When that happened it blew out the bulb on my cop light.
