I don't know why O2 sensors would cause that code, but my car had similar problems. I did replace my O2 sensors after getting a few other codes though and they all had to do with the EGR and that got rid of them. I didn't notice any difference in the way my car ran because I had a vacuum problem at the time so it always ran sh!tty.
