72 Dash Recap... any dye job recommendations?

Finished it up today... for the purests out there, go with the replacement dash. But for those "everyday drivers" and non-show cars, I found this to be an economical and viable alternative.

Total costs were about $70 after shipping and the purchase of the dye.

Here was my starting point... Poor thing, this thing was perfect when I got the car in 1997...


I sanded down the high spots, and filled them with silicon and made sure that every thing was smooth...




Following the directions, I siliconed the cover on the dash after cleaning it with ammonia. It was recommended to use bunge cords and weights, but I found that numerous extension cords wrapped tightly around the dash provided a good alternative. I had about 100 feet of cord wrapped around this...



The Ginger color was a bit hard to find... but I did find it (actually "camel") and it looks like a good match. I hope this can be of help to someone...
