![]() Will 16inch tires make a noticable improvement in handling over my stock 15 inch wheels on my '88GT?

![]() The short answer is yes. If you really want to hang corners go to a 17". I've seen Pony's go for as high as $400... and much lower. Buy a tire with a thick sidewall (check the specs on tirerack.com) and not too tall.
PS: We've got the same join date- do we qualify as "Elders" yet? A gold watch would be nice. ![]()

![]() Well, I just want them mainly for looks. I was just wondering if I was going to get better handling also. I'm going to get good rubber for them but only in a 55 or 50 series.

![]() How did the ponys look with the 50 series tires on them? Was there too much fenderwell space or not really? I think 45 series, on a 16inch rim wouldn't look right though.

![]() Stock Height Lets Say Your 15's Are 225 60's They Would Be The Same As 225 50's On A 16" Rim Hight Wise They Will Be The Same Height So What Ever The Space Is Between The Tire An Fender It Will Remain The Same, Unless You Go To A Smallertire Then The Space Will Increase Between The Tire An Fender....

![]() 255/45/16 would be the same the same as my current 225/60/15....as far as fenderspace?
In other words, if I want a 45 serires tire, on a 16 inch rim then I would need to go from a 225 to a 255

![]() I just wen to tirerack.com and looked for some 255/45/16 tires and there were no matches for my search. I tried 245/45/16 and found some. Would they look ok or should I just stick to 50 or 55 series?

![]() 82 gt, i have a set of pony wheels on my 89 GT. They are way better than my turbines. I paid 500 for mine but that was with brand new 225/60/16s on them. They are actually the same size tire as on say a 97 or newer Grand Prix. They fill out the fenderwell alot more than the 50 series i had on my 90 GT. These tires wont work well if its lowered. You should be able to find Kuhmo Ectsa Supra 712's for that rim. I paid 78 dollars a piece a couple years back. Those were the 225/50/R16. Good luck man.
