I have not actually done it. I do think tha the 21 gal. tank protrudes some up into the trunk area without hanging down any. I would say that if I was doing it over again, I would use that 21 gal. tank. Not sure about the gas gauge sending unit, but I did have to work on my Taiwanese after market sending unit to get it calibrated even with my 16 gal. after market replacement tank.

I say, go for the 21 gal. tank and do what you need to do to make the gauge work.
