Without slicks I don't think you will hurt the drivetrain. I have a bone stock engine in my 93 stang with stock T5 and 3.55 gears. I spray 150 shot of nitrous and power shift with cheater slicks. I do have a 255 fuel pump and an adjustable fuel reg. I have ran 12.20's at 110 mph cutting a 1.70 60 ft.
