There is also the "anti- foaming" aspect of the dedicated tranny fluids. Foaming of the fluid may cause low pressure to the pistons that activate the shifts causing softer shifts and therefore poorer performance and increased wear on the discs . I'm only suggesting this as a possibility, not from experience.
