2.3 has a smaller diameter pilot. You'll have to either replace the pilot bearing or sleeve/bush the pilot to make it work with a 5.0 bearing.

The 2.3 has a much taller first gear too, something up in the 3.85 range if I recall correctly. That's part of the reason why its torque rating is lower.

It'll swap with the 5.0 without any problems, other than the pilot diamter. Don't expect it to last real long though.
