2.3 has a smaller diameter pilot. You'll have to either replace the pilot bearing or sleeve/bush the pilot to make it work with a 5.0 bearing.
The 2.3 has a much taller first gear too, something up in the 3.85 range if I recall correctly. That's part of the reason why its torque rating is lower. It'll swap with the 5.0 without any problems, other than the pilot diamter.
