Aren't pick up trucks almost always light in the rear end due to their payload carrying needs? I've never seen one that would get a good launch without modifications meant to optimize traction at the expense of "truck-like" functions (Lightning comes to mind).

Spinning tires doesn't mean fast, whether stock or modded. It just means wasted power that could have been put towards forwad motion (acceleration).
