The suspensions on pick up trucks are designed to function best with the truck loaded with 1000-2000 lbs. in the bed. That's what trucks do, carry a payload. Poor traction in an unloaded condition is just a necessary trade off for that ability to haul stuff. That should seem fairly obvious from my point of view. Not that I don't like trucks, I couldn't live without one.
