could just be the way the cable is routed. I know if I route mine in the stock way then it will burn the crap out of the cable, even with a heat "shield" on the cable. But if route it just on the other side of the motor mount then it's perfect.

There ya go. I had to route mine all the way up by the oil filter, and then sneak it behind the headers. Actually had insulated clamps on the oil pan bolts, along with heat shield on the cable itself.

i appreciate all of the sugesstions n help but I believe im just gonna throw sum shortys hedders on and diff h-pipe n run the helll outa that 5 speed !!! luvin these 373s i wanna spray em

You don't wanna do that. Get the cable RIGHT, then it's gonna be a WHOLE LOTTA fun!!!! Think Pro Stock!
