Well...good new and more good news. My interior is all but gutted but I found out another way to get in from OUTSIDE the car.
Apparently, there is a little plate under the lock which can be unbolted and the cylinder replaced.......... or removed and opened with a screwdriver.

Yep. The hatchback Mustang's have a serious inherent design flaw when it comes to theft with that riveted plate. I've seen a number of the plates with a philips head screw rather than the rivet, making it a 30sec operation.
