Default Re: 67 Mustang Timing help

Something that hasn't been addressed is the valve adjustment. Are the rockers adjustable or do you just tighten them down.

The difference is, early cars the stud was just a straight stud and you must adjust the valves. Later cars the stud has a shoulder machined on it and the rocker arm bottoms out on the shoulder.

This was changed around 67-68. If the valves are too tight it won't start either.

On the timing....If you have #1 on TDC and the dist. pointing to #1 you are right so far. Now the firing order. You said 351W cam, right?? You are using 351W firing order then. Do you have the firing order, on the dist. rotating around the correct direction. Also, Fords are numbered 1-2-3-4 front to back on the right side and 5-6-7-8 front to back of the left side. Others are numbered, many times, Odd and even left or right.

If everything is the way you say then it should run.
