Connect the pins as shown with a jumper wire (make sure the car is off). I made my jumper wire from solid copper wire and modified some forked connectors to fit nicely in the pins. Now, with the jumper wire connecting the 2 pins as shown, get in the car and turn it to "on". Do not start the car. The fan should rev up and then your check engine light will flash. the code 123 will flash as: flash (2 second pause), flash flash (2 second pause), flash flash flash. Record all the codes. A code 111 means everything is OK and is also used as a seporator code. Once the car stops flashing codes you are done. That was a KOEO test (Key On, Engine Off). Now you have to do the KOER test. Connect the jumper wire, and start the car, Let it idle on its own. It should idle up for a minute and then idle down. It will then start flsahing codes like the first test. You can repeat the tests often to make sure you have all the codes. Write them down in order that you see them and post them here. Or, if you want you can buy a code reader. I didn't as I want to but as much money in the car as possible to make it go fast .------------------ 1995 Mustang GT |
