![]() Is your brother one of these young white males who for some reason has an identity complex and thinks he's either black or Japanese (not cutting on any races here other than the wannabes)? You know the type. They have these funny @ss Japanese cars with Japanese writing on the windows. I've always taken that as being very un-American and a poser. I wouldn't worry about somebody like that saying an American made muscle car that has been around since 1965 and has sold millions is a piece of junk. I have half the money in my car that he probably does in his and I could take him on my worst day driving backwards.

![]() Now, for your dilema...
Don't fool around. People like that need to be hurt bad in the pride area. With $2000 go get yourself a 250HP shot of juice (with all the accessories), 190lph fuel pump, South Side lift bars, sub frames, etc. You'll be running 12's easy. ------------------ Gunning for 12's! ![]() Buy your parts here ICQ# 42269241 |

![]() Was that in the "heads up" or bracket class? Some cars get head starts to make the race more competitive
![]() BTW - 5.0mgb was right about the stickers. A friend of mine put a sticker and a spoiler on his stock v6 mustang, and now he can hang with the porches and jaguars on the Autobahn. And yes, Ricers are all over the world ![]() [This message has been edited by LowDown (edited 10-15-2001).] |

![]() I just don't understand the mentality. Do they just hate America? We all know that Mustangs are much nicer than Hondas, and a Ford Focus holds the Import drag racing speed record, so what are they trying to prove, other than the fact that they are idiots?

![]() Well I wasn't there but does anyone else notice the double decker wing that comes on the turbo 2.3 SVO and not the 5.0 mustang?...looks kinda like an svo all around.
As for your bro...even if you blow 2000$ and don't beat him you still have a fast car for nowhere near what he is paying...for that crap he is putting in for 7500$ to get into the 13's...that is what a mustang costs plus mods to go into 13's. Where I come from thats called STUPID...lets see...we can make a compact grocery getter into a somewhat fast car for the cost of 5 used mustangs that run fast stock...and then throw another mustangs worth of money just to make it a little quicker. Can't you put in a used blower for 2 grand? |

![]() A couple things.....
1. I highly doubt that his motor is going to propel him into the low 13's, even if its beefed up.... the motor you describe sounds similar to a S2000 honda motor, and they don't run low to mid 13's, at least not at my track. 2. I have a friend with a 98 Integra GSR, stock he turned 15.2, he just added a turbo and ran a 14.99..... then some "experienced" rice racer took a pass in his car and ripped of a high 13 second pass at 102mph. Goes to show what a driver can do. 3. Get a good set of Nitto DR's and a set of 3.73's. You'll kill him off the line and he'll have to try like hell to catch up. 4. With pulleys, offroad X pipe, mufflers, 3.73's, cold air induction, 14* timing, and MT sportsman pro tires my dad was running 13.6 at 99mph in the 1/4, these mods will come in under $2000. A question was posed above why these guys race hondas and the like. Well, I remember not that long ago (~93-94) when I ripping up the streets in my 91LX 2.3L. At the time, I was 16-17 years old, I couldn't afford the insurance on a 5.0 stang, nor the gas. I tried to add an exhaust and such to it to make it faster, but it was in vain. Why did I do this???? Because a 5.0L wasn't within my reach financially. Sure, I might have been able to buy an 89LX 5.0, but I couldn't afford to drive it everyday. Now, most of my friends at that time were reduced to getting front wheel drive imports because they were cheap to buy, insure, run, and in my area, the front wheel drive goes a lot better in the snow. So....once these guys started making a few bucks on summer jobs, after school, etc, they too wanted to hop up their cars. Well, we all know its cheaper to hot rod what you have rather than buying something else, so they hopped up their civics and such, can you blame them? Now that I know what it takes to make a car run, I think that most of the small things like exhaust and such are sort a waste if you have an import, because either way, you still have a car that won't break a 15 in the 1/4, so why do it, but at the time, none of us knew that, so we hopped up what we had. Fast forward a few years, these guys are now my age (24), and have bigger bucks to spend. So now they add N2O, turbos, etc. Some may ask why they didn't just buy a mustang after maybe their first import... I personally buy cars that I had good experiences with and like, and if they liked their first civic, and now have the bucks to spend on them, why not. I remember when I had my 2.3L, all I wanted in the world was to beat up on "cocky" 5.0L owners that were always telling me to get a real car with some balls. Well, can you blame them for feeling the same way about wanting to hot rod their civic or whatever to beat up on all the mustangs that have always pounded on them????? I just think, we shouldn't all be so quick to judge and gripe about what the other guy is running/ and or doing with his car, no matter what it might be. We all have the freedom of choice to do what we want, its just that we chose the V8 route. I really believe that all the above is really why the import scene has taken off so much. Think about it, if your a 16 year old kid and you have a cheap little honda or something and you here about these guys beating mustangs and running 10, 11, 12's etc in the 1/4, you'd think you could do it to. And the cycle repeats itself. I didn't mean to preach, its just that there is such hatred between "ricers" and V8 owners that I think its dumb. P.S.- the worst spankings I've ever had in my mustang came from a eclipse (the guy has two, one is a front wheel drive that runs high 12's at 115+mph, the other is his street driven AWD eclipse that runs 10.9's, yes, 10.9's at 127+mph), and a turbo'd VW GTI VR6.---- some of these imports deserve some respect, though 90% are your typical fart can, mid to high 16-18 second cars that want to race at every light. OK, I'll stop now. ------------------ 1995 NA GT CONVERTIBLE BEST ET: 12.92 BEST MPH: 106.85 AFR's, FTI cam, edelbrock intake, EEC TUNER and lots more. http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/killercanary |

![]() 2.3 SVO turbo is definitely what that car in the pic looks like.
killercanary: ask your friend with the Eclipses how many transmissions he has broken. My friend in college had a front wheel drive turbo Eclipse that ran 11.7 at 127 (I didn't believe him until I lost from a roll on my souped-up FZR600) and he broke 4 trannies in the two years that I hung out with him. Difference between those cars and Mustangs is that you have way more options for parts to handle the horsepower. |

"he's getting jun stage 3 cams, jun stage 3 header " Is he also getting the Stage 3 air filter and the Stage 3 spark plug wires to accompany the Stage 3 muffler bearings and Stage 3 blinker fluid reservoir? I swear, when I occasionally look through Import magazines, that's all you see: Stage 1 this, Stage 2 that. And if you ask a Honda or any import person what size cams (duration, lift), or turbos (T3/T4, T-60, etc.) they have, all they know is what "Stage" it is. It is the manufacturer's way of dealing with these people's ignorance!!! They probably started doing it because they got tired of talking to these morons on the phone!! That is why I hate these people!!! I know a guy with a '00 Integra GSR who after spending an hour and a half (yes 1.5 hours = 90 minutes) taking his throttle body off, spent $75 and had the inside polished, not ported, POLISHED!!! Why? Well I can't exactly answer that, I wish I could. All right, so my car may be a piece of junk, but I at least I know a thing or two about my piece of junk!!! Sorry, had to vent some anger. |

![]() I would definently say that the car in the photo is a 2.3l turbo (the double decker wing sets it off.....), which runs a mid 15 (?).
As for you're brother....in current trim (stock), your car will run a mid/low 14 well driven. that beats his car in current trim. if those "new parts" do make him run a 13, you'll need some stuff to beat him, though i highly doubt he is going to actually get what he needs to run 13s (turbo). So, in order to have a good margin of error, get a full exhaust (headers/h-pipe, cat-back (importance in that order)), and gears (3.73). have fun! at that point you will be running a 13/14 solid if you drive well. |
