Must be an MSD. They are infamous for their humming. Jim (Mr 5.0) and I had an in-depth about this with a couple guys who were scared a year or two ago, and as I recall, he experienced the same things I did, so it's not coastal either. MSD's just plain make noise. Not all, but most. Usually right out of the box. They also have less than than a 2 year life span in a daily driver, but I don't know if that's related. If it's not too late (I'm sure it is), pick up a Crane PS91 or 92. Great coils for the money. And quiet, too!
