yah you could do that if you can find some heads off a 87-up 5.0, dont pay a whole lot for them just incase they are damaged, you'll want to take them to a machine/cylinder head shop to have them flattened and have the valve guides checked, 3 angle valve job and new valve springs, the machine shop work should be around $150-200 and new springs are well under $100
now that i add it up, if your gonna do it that way then you should just get some GT40P heads, you can get them bare (no valves or springs) for $99 each, not sure what good new valves run maybe another 150-200 in valves and springs, then you could port them out a little too and have a pretty damn nice set of heads there is another thing you can get from a junk yard if you can find it, an explorer intake, the lower is almost exactly the same as a GT40 lower (except for a sensor that you have to drill and tap a hole for) and the upper flows just a little bit less than a cobra, i found mine for $150 from a guy on mustangworks you could also find both the heads and explorer intake on Ebay, you can find pretty much anything you need on there ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, BBK headers, off-road H-pipe, flowmasters, subframes, 65mm TB, March ram air ,MSD coil, U/L control arms, 155lph f/p, Crane Adj.FPR, Nitto drag radials, best 1/4--> 13.76@101.4 on a 2.17 60ft |
