I've had an MSD 6AL for about 4yrs and have had no problems with it. I'm not running the tfi type coil, but the blaster 2 coil. This is also on a 90' stang. The MSD has also been transplanted from a 91 firebird that i used to own. I can't say that i have ever run into a problem.
It soumds like there's something wrong with the unit if it's causing the car to completely shut off. Give MSD a call, this is there direct tech line(915)855-7123.
