![]() Yes! Primer every inch of the surface to be painted. If you don't before too long all of the different surfaces you painted over will show through the paint. Get wwith you local paint supply store and ask them what they recommend. There are several primer/fillers available that are sprayed on really thick to fill all the tiny scratches. The primer will also seal the surface so that the reducers in the paint wont eat through and cause blemishes in the new paint. One thing I found out a while back is that the color of the primer has a direct effect on the color of the paint you are applying. Our 82 was painted over two different colors of primer and you can see a difference in the darkness of the red paint where the primers differ.
