Something MUST be done to the C4 if you install a shift kit. Enough horsepower to bark 3rd and you may go through 2 stock rebuilds a year.

My average was 2 a year with a 10" converter and 400hp froma 289. I'd run them till they acted wierd (locked up/wouldn't shift/slow shifts) then take them apart. If you plan to build more and more horsepower, do it right and don't buy a converter for a C4. If you plan to buy a converter, save up for a C6 and converter, because the more hp you toss at the C4, the more often you'll break.

Nothing sucks worse than breaking at the line in a money round. *sigh*
