You can replace the last few feet of gas line with hose. The metal line gets too hot. I was having the same problem & my dad told me when he was young, they would clip a clothepin on the hard line near the carb. He said it acts as a heatsink. Guess what? It worked. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, if it's not a constant problem, that's a cheap fix. Good luck.
