what type of trans do you have? if an auto... and a well running 351c 4-v then i would think about 14.7-9. If a manual anywhere, depending on skill, in the 14.4-15.0 range. Is this engine really stock? have you replaced the exhaust? that is one of THE largest restrictions those old cars have. Open that up and you'll have one good running 351c (don't think it's gonna be a rocket, but it'll run GOOD). Think about replacing the cam with something mild and matching it with an intake matched parts almost always run best - ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN STOCK!! I can't emphasize that anymore!! Plus stock cams cost just as much as a performance cam and take just as much work to install.
------------------ '63 Merc Meteor hardtop, warm 302, C4 auto, 2.25" Flowmaster Exhaust, '65 289 heads - ported/chevy valves, performer cam, edelbrock f4a intake, full length hookers, 600 holley, roller rockers, k'n, 10.5:1 hyperutetic pistons... mid 13's hoping to reach into 12's |
