I just replaced mine in my 65 fastback. I used a snapon tool made just for compressing small springs like this, I dont know the part number but it kinda looks like a pair of tongs. It still isn't a walk in the park but it only took me about 5 min because I used a regular wrench to compress. Even this one you just compress it put it in place in the door hinge and let it fly and it usually hits where it is supposed to. The more you do it the better you get I guess.
