Ponydude: What induction system do you have on the engine now? By 87, all 302's should have been fuel injected. As for the carb, you won't have to worry about the cam mismatch. Otherwise the most popular swap in the history of cars wouldn't work without major modification. True, to get the most benefit out of a 4bbl, you need some more parts, but these include things like exhaust, ignition, and heads in addition to carb. You will be just fine switching to a 4bbl.
