Kisner,
The insulation glues to the roof, the reason I said this applies to all insulation just look at a house when they insulate the walls. Any insulation will work but remember you are dealing with alot of heat on the roof, carpet insulation is not really meant for that. There are other types of insulation that you can use that reflect heat better. Another thing I have seen done is applying a few pieces of sound deadner first because this will help keep the "druming" sound down. If you are wondering what I am talking about just tap the inside of your roof with no insulation.
