![]() What Quantum has pictured in his reply is a "sheet metal" intake which takes place of the upper & lower.
A box upper is a rectangular box (usually cast aluminum), with a small neck & flange for the throttle body in the middle of one side. It takes place of the upper intake only. Most will go mount on a GT40 style lower or truck lower. One example is a Down's Ford upper.
