![]() Don't worry about getting a drag start, just get it moving. He might get the jump on you as a result, but that's okay you'll pass him after the first 100 feet.
If dumping the clutch doesn't work, I'd let it out quickly while holding the rpm at about 2000. If you want to win for sure, don't light 'em on the launch. It's hard to recover from. Unless it's a money race or your at the strip, I wouldn't hassle with a burnout.
