on american musclecars they kept refering to certain muscle cars as pony cars.....cuda challenger mustang camaro........a mustang with a 289 is a pony car.......mustang with 429 is a muscle car..........cuda witha 340 is a pony car cuda with a 440+6 is definetly muscle car

their definintino was based on that the pony cars were built in order to race trans am
cuda,challenger,camaro,mustang
but in order to do that u had to have under 305 ci's............camaro used 302 so did mustang.......from wut understang the mopars had a special version of the 340 nwhich was cut down to 304.6 ci

that is somewhat how they defined it
