Look. Blower you aren't gonna afford soon.
If you want to beat em get NOS. Sure you gotta refill it, but with a blower, you're gonna be re-filling your gastank more often too. NOS isn't gonna effect your MPG.

Skip the rockers, skip the TB. Get 3.73 gears at the least, you should get 4.10's with that heavy vert and auto. Get a shift kit and a converter.

Getting that driveline in order is the first thing to do.

Sorry but an AUTO 98 Vert is one of the worst combos to start with, but you can make it fast in time.
