True. They have been excellent tires. I've got all my maintenance records to prove my mileage on the tires. I do alot of highway driving. I bought this car not quite two years ago with 14,300 miles on it (march 1, 1999). I now have 55,300 on it. Hmm...I guess I don't quite have 40,000 miles on it cause I put a couple thousand on the stock firehawks before I put on the Daytons. It's more like 38-39000 miles on them. Anyways, they've been excellent tires. I was just looking for a little bit cheaper priced tire. The Daytons were $128/tire (225/55ZR16)and the Futuras are $101/tire. I'm not sure the price of the Dayton 245/50s. I'm just considering my options. I may go back with the Daytons. I do alot of shopping on things before I make a decision. I like to know all of my options.
I also really don't play much with the car. Rarely sees a burnout. Rarely. Constant rotations, about every 5000 miles, and constant monitoring of pressures. Right now I run about 34 psi up front and 30 psi in the rear. I don't remember my exact alignment specs but it's as aggresive as the stock "c/c" plates will get. Like -1 camber, 1/16 toe out, don't remember caster. Something like that. Now I wish I could remember exact specs. Guess I'll have to ask the guys at Saleen again. But, that's pretty close to what the specs are. I have to keep the tires rotated alot or else the insides will wear quicker on the front.------------------ 1996 Mustang GTS |
