Basically your brain floats around inside the cranial cavity inside a membrane filled with a small amount of fluid. When your head is going 190+ and all of a sudden it rapidly decelerates to 0, your brain slams against the front of the skull, and it causes nasty hemmoraging and swelling. There's not a whole lot of room in there for swelling so alot of times the pressure does you in before the bleeding can.

Anyway, it is a great loss whenever anyone dies expecially in a motorsport related crash. I wish Dale's family the best.
