I always side step the gas and brake from a stop. Start in 2nd gear. Drop the clutch at 4000 RPM. Let the brake up a bit, but not completely, and womp on the throtle. Turn the wheel as you please. Tons of smoke and rubber!

I'd try your old tires first.
