After searching about an hour through my mags and just about giving up (b/c I really want to read that story again--think it's Mercury's falt), I found the story.

It's in the May 1998 (vol. 11, No. 5) issue of MM&FF, the one with the NYPD Blue front cover (you know, the story about the stupid NYPD stalking Mustang street racers and taking their cars away from them and turning them into patrol cars

) It's called The Rogue
