I'm with you Stefan. I say if you like the looks of it, then go for it. You're not trying to fool anyone.
I have a GT rear valance and a Shelby front valance on my '66 because I like the looks as well as the function. That doesn't mean I'm tryiung to pass it off as a GT or Shelby. To me these are just custom touches that personalize a car. Of course things should remain in good taste, but there's always room for argument there.
