That is not totally true. Hydraulics assume that the medium is non-compressible, in the case of air, not true. For most simple applications this assumption can be made, however there are small errors in the calculations. The pressure drop is not directly proportional to the air resistance. In this case, Pressure is proportional to the square of the resistance. But then again that is just me (an engineer) being overly picky.
