If I can offer one piece of advice, it would be..... Do Not Go Back to that Mechanic! Who was it, Stevie Wonder? OK, sorry. He just shouldn't be there if he can't answer that question. The silencer should be next to the firewall on your passenger side. Just follow the intake hose.
