What is real oil capacity, manual/dealer discrepancy

I use 5 1/4 quarts in mine. Seems to be full by the stick. Some oil filters may differ a little in size too.

Anyway, if Ford got the the dipstick thing together with the newer cars that's cool but I don't see why better flowing heads from the 99 and up model year SOHC requires less oil if the engines are the same 281 displacement as their brother engines from 96-98(including the hp increase for 98 too).

I remember an article in MM&fast fords about them trying 5 quarts on a 4.6 and it seemed to make more power. Maybe Ford read that article..
