If you can turn the volume all the way up and still here your stuff then my guess would be the pre-amp inside the unit. If not, it should still be one of several problems that can occur inside a head unit. My suggestion is to take it in for a diagnostic and possibly repair. Hopefully its under warranty. To me it sounds like the pre-amp. Hope this helps you.
