Book time (for an indy shop, a dealership's book time is about 20% less) for the job you did is 10.7 hours. R & R & Recondition includes changing the rings, rod and main bearings, freshening up the heads, and a basic tune up, book time: 38.7 hours. That's alot of time. Especially considering how much longer than book time it takes the first time you do a job. I would lose money. If you only spent 20 hours R & R the engine, your pay got cut in half for two and a half days. With an R & R & R, that would be half pay for two weeks. I can't afford that. That's what I meant by crazy. I know what you mean about pictures. That was just an expression, meaning pay close attention. For me, if it's not old hat, then I guess I just make mental notes about where things went, because I always seem to get them back together correctly the first time.
