I almost forgot about this little trick...
Go test drive the car with the salesman then go pick up your partner in crime and come right back and tell the salesman you want to take them for a ride to see what they think. I did this with a brand new GT in 89 (I was only 18) and I got to go solo. WOW! Needless to say I didn't hold back a bit. That was a trip down the road I will never forget
