Question CVR starter not engaging flywheel?

I have a 351 windsor with the powerglide conversion kit. I installed a CVR hi torque starter #171 - 5056 from Jeg's last night and now the starter will not engage the flywheel. It is about 1/8th inch shy of the flywheel. Anybody ever had this problem or am I doing something wrong? Is there another part that I need? Want to go racing next week but it would help if I could start the car.

I had a CSI and had the same darn problem. After having them send parts to fix it that didn't I elected to send it back and go with a different starter.

Ford makes a high torque and a super high torque starter. This fixed my problem. Summit (and probably Jegs) has them both although they are not listed in the catalog. I believe the super high torque starter is around $200. My motor is 14.5:1 and this thing will spin the motor like crazy, seriously.

If nothing else has changed I would see about returning the starter and going with the ford.
